Montana State's Duncan Hamilton found The Podium in Spokane to his liking and peeled off new track records in both the 3,000 meters Friday night and the mile Saturday afternoon at the Washington State Indoor Open and Invitational.

But he'll go into the new facility's history as the first runner to break the four-minute barrier, earning that distinction by running 3:59.64 to edge his teammate Ben Perrin (4:01.35).

Hamilton, an All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, has run altitude-converted times in Bozeman that look faster, but it was the first time he had finished a mile and seen a time beginning with '3' pop up on the clock.

"When it came down to it, it was pretty much everything I had in my legs to get under that four-minute barrier," Hamilton said.

The last-minute addition of pacers Landon Rast of Grand Canyon and Noah Majerus of Montana State helped keep the early pace dialed up so that Hamilton could give the track its sub-four christening.

The night prior, Hamilton ran 7:56.86 to win the 3,000 meters.

In the first multi competitions in the building, which were held Thursday and Friday, Grand Canyon's Aidan Diggs (5,282) and Colorado's Avery McMullen (4,231) gave The Podium new benchmarks.

All of the throwing records at The Podium were reset, with Cal's NCAA hammer throw champion Camryn Rogers taking the weight throw (72-1/21.97m) and Idaho's Grady Leonard winning the men's weight throw (70-5.25/21.47m).

Arizona's Samantha Noenning launched a season's best 56-8 (17.27m) in the shot put and Cal's Josh Johnson threw 63-7.75 (19.40m).

On the track, Idaho State's Collin Dylla (1:50.49) broke the 800-meter record in the Open meet Friday. Kelly Moodry from Grand Canyon lowered the women's record to 2:07.37 in the invitational section.

Post-collegian Sarah King, a member of the Swiss national track team, bested the track record in the 400 with 54.40.

Washington State's Sam Brixey lowered his own record in the 60 hurdles, and ran a personal-best 7.70 seconds. Boise State's Dafni Georgiou took the women's 60 hurdles record down to 8.42.

Grand Canyon's Jodie Judd established a new record in the mile, winning in 4:54.03.

Grand Canyon made its impression throughout the meet, including a men's 4x400 relay victory over Washington, 3:13.19 to 3:13.65.

Rhesa Foster of Nike became the first woman over 20 feet in the long jump at The Podium with a winning mark of 20-1.75 (6.14m).

Lucy Corbett of Montana State and Talie Bonds of Arizona both cleared 5-10.50 in the women's high jump.

Colby Wilson of Montana State and Jacob Englar of Washington State both cleared a faciltiy record 17-0.25 in the pole vault.
